Tour Description

To begin the tour, you will be picked up at 05.00 am from your accommodation and driven directly to Merbabu Mountain via Wekas village. Yogyakarta is surounded by mountains, Vulcano’s and Hills. Next to the famous Merapi vulcano lays the less known Merbabu Mountain (altitude 3145 masl). The Merbabu is a great habitat for several animals like deer’s, monkeys and starlings. During this one-day trekking tour, we will explore Merbabu Mountain. This mountain is less steep then the Merapi but with its total track length of 6.2 km and an elevation gain of 1200 meter, still impressive to hike. The mountain is located just one hour and half drive away Yogyakarta. In opposite of the Merapi is the Mount Merbabu is not active. This mountain has a very dense forests, this in combination with the soil makes it become a challenging track.

What makes Merbabu so nice?

What makes Merbabu so nice is that it is surrounded by green spacious savannas and beautiful hills. Definitely worth to climb, and because of this, this mountain starts to attract more and more people who realize this as well. The Mount Merbabu is a favorite for now – spanning 3,145 meters above sea level, it is quite a sight! On a clear day, we’ll see a rare occurrence. Mount Merbabu Daylight hike is strikingly pretty. Merbabu volcano is relatively easy to access – a trail leads almost to the summit; this hike is easiest to access via New Selo village. There are plenty of viewpoints to choose from at the top, so I recommend you at least join in a Mount Merbabu daylight hike. It is interesting to explore!

After a day hike, you can take some rest while enjoying the beautiful view surround it. And from the top, you will see again the Merapi volcano, Lawu, Sindoro, Sumbing Mountain, but also Ungaran Mountain and several small mountains such as Andong, Telomoyo and Gilipetung Mountain.

04:45 AM - 05:00 am hotel pickup, then drive to Mt Merbabu
05:00 AM - 07:00 am arrive at Selo village the hiking basecamp, breakfast & preparation.
07:00 AM - 11:30 am the hiking activity for a beautiful mountain of Merbabu
11:30 PM - 13:00 am enjoy a magnificent view of Merbabu mountain summit overlooking Merapi volcano.
13:00 PM - 16:30 am leaving the summit and back to the hiking basecamp.
16:30 PM - 18:30 am return & transfer to your hotel. End of service
